My name is Janina Himmen and I am from Frankfurt, Germany. I started to work on the SP-Studio back in the year 2001, it was the first Flash game of its kind. Even today (though some copied it) it's still the biggest one, because I keep updating it. I enjoyed drawing South Park characters for friends and wanted everybody to be able to create their own ones. Back then I never imagined that it would become the most popular online-tool to create avatars. But it's just a fan project, I do this in my free time and don't get paid for it. I just want others to enjoy my work, but feel free to donate something if you want to support me. Thanks.
SP-Studio goes FlattrJune 4. 2010 Maybe you noticed the new button on www.sp-studio.de: Flattr is a service to give and receive small amounts of money on the internet. It is pretty new, so I guess most of my visitors don't know about it yet and don't have a Beta account. But I like the idea behind it and so I decided to put the button on my website and write this little news-posting about it.If you want to know how it works it's best to check out the video on the Flattr-Homepage. When you register you pay a small amount of money (at least 2 €) and then you can click on flattr buttons on websites which take part. You can publish your own content too and receive clicks. At the end of the month your 2 € are distributed to everyone you "flattred". So it's an easy way to make small donations to say "Thank you". We all know how hard it is to earn money on the internet... I have many visitors, but nearly nobody donates something, even if they use my pictures for bigger projects. It is just not common around the internet to give something back for something you can get for free. That's why I like the idea behind Flattr: I tried it and it helped me to overcome my inhibitions to donate something for my favorite websites. I believe there are more people like me who are willing to make small donations if it is easy. That's why I included the button here too. I know most of you don't use flattr yet, but perhaps I can have my part in making it known. It's worth a try :). Right now you can only register if you are invited, but I will keep you updated when this will change. Of course this cannot replace Paypal or my Amazon wishlist, but Flattr might become an interesting alternative for people who want to show their appreciation without spending much money. [ 35 Comments ] Special Fifa Worldcup UpdateJune 4. 2010 Okay, you got me... Because of the upcoming wold cup in South Africa I got so many requests for football shirts, that I decided to do this one (and it will be the only one EVER, so don't even think about asking for more sports wear! :) ) special update. I drew them for all 32 teams, so every fan should find a fitting shirt for him now. You can combine the shirts with the text tool to add numbers and there's a fitting background too. I hope you like it!And regarding the world cup: Recently I made a video for the German Acapella band "Basta" They recorded a funny song about the different teams. It's in German, but perhaps you want to check it out anyway: Basta - Gimme Hope Joachim (Video drawn & animated by me, Janina Himmen) And I have some good news for the ones who can't stand soccer at all: I am still working on another mixed update for the SP-Studio, which just needs more time. [ 31 Comments ] Special censorship updateApril 23. 2010The next update...?April 16. 201027 new beardsFebruary 25. 201040 new hair-styles... and more!February 15. 2010 As promised I drew some hair for you... and I got a bit over the top. I planned to draw about 30, but now there are 40 new hair-styles. I hope you like them! I listened to your requests and so there are some emo, scene girl, anime and even Simpsons hair-styles. And there is another surprise! I got many questions about adding highlights to the hair, so I included this now. You can use the "customizable highlights" category to add them to the existing hair styles. You can move and flip them or combine different highlights to create your individual style. Including this was very complicated, so there is only one page of highlights right now to test if you like it. And of course they do not fit with every hair cut - it is up to you to be creative and combine them in a good looking way. But I tried it out and there are countless possibilities for interesting new hair styles now. So enjoy it! :) P.S. I did not forget about the beards, but I needed so much time to draw the hair-styles, that I will add the beards later, around February 24th. It's December 1st - and so this year's Christmas Special can start!
I got so many nice requests that it'll be difficult to choose only 24 of them. But I will try my best to draw useful new things, and of course you can still write down your wishes here in the comments. The surprise for the first day is a saxophone, because that's the music instrument most of my visitors wished for for a long time. I hope you like it!  I will update this Advent calendar every day when I add a new item to the SP-Studio, so don't forget to check it out tomorrow :). PLEASE remember: NO different body shapes! [ 330 Comments ] Christmas time is near!November 28. 2009Update: Freestyle CollectionSeptember 20. 2009 When I first had the idea for the "SP-Studio" back in 2001, my intention was to help fellow South Park fans to live out their creativity, even if they cannot draw or paint. At the beginning there were just a few clothes to choose from, but their number grew over the years and with today's update there will be many more possibilities to create any character you want.I noticed that there are 2 groups of users: Some want to create a funny character as fast as possible. So I left the "unique designs" as they are, because they are the easiest way to dress up. Today's update is for the others, who want to be more creative. I reworked the "freestyle collection" for you. Now you can't just choose the colors for those clothes, you can even combine them freely in up to three layers. You can switch layers by clicking on the numbers on the left side (1 = underwear, 2 = middle, 3 = on top). So for example you can wear a dress under a shirt under a jacket. There are more basic clothes, patterns and colors to choose from too. By adding this feature there are countless possibilities to combine clothes, especially if you use some fashion accessories too. You can create interesting things by combining different clothes and moving them a bit around. Give it a try, I hope you enjoy this update! I added your favorite wishes, so I hope you enjoy this update and it helps you to be more creative when you build your own characters.
